Hey team!
For those who weren't aware, a portion of the team is working on developing a prototype map that will push the capabilities of the engine to see how it handles modular set design, a practice used in current game level building. I'm not going to get into an explanation, I'll assume you all have an idea of what it is. If not, a contact of mine Thiago Klafke wrote an awesome tutorial here.
I'm planning on sending him our progress as we work, so hopefully we can get some feedback from him if he's not too busy.
Ok so the map concept so far:
Painted by Liz, here is the main centre of the city map we'll be building.
I've also done some sketch/renders for other views:
As well as a floor plan and Diorama:
I'm currently working on blocking out the map to get an idea of scale. After approval, we've got a few 3d modelers who will model set pieces such as walls, floors, etc. that I'll help sketch out before hand so no one's in the dark on what it should look like.
I'll also be painting a majority of the textures, maps, and writing the shaders. I'm not a strong modeler, but I may try to work on some of that as well.
Looking forward to implementing this workflow with the openwolf engine and anyone interested in contributing, let us know!
thanks y'all-
